With a significant donation, Erwin Mach Gummitechnik played a key role in bringing the “Yéena Comom” project in Senegal to life. In close collaboration with the organization Engineers Without Borders Austria, a basketball court was built in the community of Nianiar – creating a place for connection, movement, and enthusiasm for local children and young people.

Why a basketball court? For managing directors Erwin and Michael Mach, it was immediately clear: “We’re in!” Both have been passionate basketball players since their youth and even co-founded a basketball club in Mattersburg. The idea of combining their love for the sport with a meaningful, socially impactful project was truly a matter of the heart.

„Basketball has given us so much – team spirit, resilience, and joy. Being able to give young people in Senegal a place where they can experience the same is something we’re truly proud of.“

The “Yéena Comom” project is one of many initiatives by Engineers Without Borders Austria, an organization committed to implementing sustainable infrastructure projects around the world – thoughtfully designed, locally adapted, and with long-lasting impact. More information: www.iog-austria.at
